Is hiring a Pinterest manager a good move for your business?

What Does a Pinterest Manager Do?

A Pinterest manager is a specialist who helps businesses use Pinterest marketing to drive more traffic to their websites (resulting in more clients and more sales!). The roles of a Pinterest manager vary, but many managers offer “full-service management”.

This service usually includes everything:

  • Optimizing your account
  • Doing keyword research
  • Designing pins
  • Scheduling pins
  • Optimizing boards
  • Monitoring analytics
  • Adjusting the strategy

It’s a LOT for most business owners to handle on their own, which is why a Pinterest manager comes in handy. 😉

For more of an in-depth look at what Pinterest managers do on the daily, I wrote a whole post on the topic. But long story short: a good Pinterest manager isn’t just making cute pins all day. We’re doing strategic marketing and SEO.

When to Outsource to a Pinterest Manager

Hiring a Pinterest manager isn’t the right move for every business at every stage. The truth is that some businesses are ready to invest in Pinterest, and some need to do a few other things first. Here’s how to tell which one you are.

Signs You’re Ready to Hire a Pinterest Manager

You…

  • Have a blog (preferably with at least 10 URLs)
  • Know who your ideal client is
  • Have a clear funnel that’s set up to convert visitors into inquiries or sales
  • Are ready to trust a marketing professional with your strategy
  • Understand Pinterest is a long game (6-12 months before you see real traction)
  • Have the budget for an ongoing monthly investment

Signs You’re Not Yet Ready to Hire a Pinterest Manager

You…

  • Don’t have a blog yet
  • Are not sure who your ideal client is
  • Don’t have a funnel built (or you’re not sure what a funnel even is)
  • Want to be hands-on with every Pinterest decision
  • Are hoping for quick results
  • Don’t have the budget for an ongoing monthly investment

If most of the “not ready” signs sound like you, that’s not a bad thing. It just means you’ve got some work to do laying the foundation first. Hiring a Pinterest manager will be a wayyy better investment once you do.

What Is the Average Cost to Hire a Pinterest manager?

Pinterest management pricing varies. Many experienced freelance Pinterest managers charge between $500 and $1,000+ per month for full-service management.

A few things that affect pricing:

  • Experience: An experienced Pinterest manager who’s been doing this for years (and has a portfolio of results to back it up) is going to cost more than someone newer to the game.
  • Scope of Work: Some packages include account optimization, pin design, scheduling, AND monthly strategy calls. Others are more bare-bones. The more they do, the more you’ll pay.
  • Pin Volume: How many pins are included per month? A package for 5 pins per day will be cheaper than one for 20 per day. Packages can likely be customized based on your needs.

When you’re comparing packages, don’t just look at the price tag. Look at what’s actually included, the manager’s experience, and what kind of results they’ve gotten for clients in your industry.

One more thing worth knowing is that many Pinterest managers require a minimum commitment of 3, 6, or even 12 months. That might sound scary, but there’s a reason for it: Pinterest is all about the long game. If you were to hire a manager for only a month or two, you might not see the growth that your account is capable of. However, if you commit to a little bit longer working with a professional, that’s when you’ll start to see the real returns.

Where to Find and Hire Pinterest Managers

If you’re looking for a Pinterest manager, here are a few solid places to start your search:

  1. Google: A search for Pinterest manager or Pinterest manager for [your niche] will pull up freelancers and small agencies. Look at their websites, portfolios, and case studies to get a feel for who might be a fit.
  2. Instagram: Tons of Pinterest managers are active on Instagram. Search terms like Pinterest manager, Pinterest tips, or Pinterest for business to see who’s posting Pinterest tips and strategy content.
  3. Referrals: Ask other business owners in your network if they’ve worked with a Pinterest manager they loved. A personal recommendation is one of the best ways to find someone you can trust.
  4. Pinterest: A lot of managers (myself included) use Pinterest to educate business owners about the platform. You can likely find great managers by searching terms like learn Pinterest, Pinterest for business, Pinterest help, or Pinterest manager.
  5. Pinterest Manager Directories: Some Pinterest manager networks have directories where you can submit one inquiry and get quotes from multiple managers at once. It’s really helpful if you want to compare your options quickly. (Find me 🙋‍♀️ on Levee Road Studio’s recommended Pinterest managers!)
