About Heather Paperie
Emily and Heather are two incredibly talented stationers who co-own Heather Paperie, a full-service custom wedding stationery design business. They specialize in classic and romantic custom wedding stationery. I have been working as Heather and Emily’s virtual assistant since I first started my business. After I transitioned to offering Pinterest services, they asked me to begin acting as their Pinterest manager, too. Having spent so much time learning about the world of stationery, I was excited to put all of that knowledge into practice creating pins!

Before Working with Emily Howell VA
Before hiring me as their Pinterest manager, Heather and Emily had only been able to pin a few images sporadically. When there is so much on your plate as a business owner, Pinterest can take a back seat to more immediate client work. And while the pins they made were beautiful, they were not optimized for the platform. Therefore, they were barely getting saves or clicks to their website.
Monthly Analytics Before

- Saves: 9
- Outbound Clicks: 15
The Strategy
Success on Pinterest isn’t about pinning and hoping it works out. 🤞 Pinterest is a search engine, just like Google. That means it requires research, planning, and strategy to make sure your work gets in front of the right eyes. Let me tell you about a few of the things I did to make sure Heather Paperie’s pins reached their dream clients…
1. Research Keywords
First, I did a deep dive into what Heather Paperie’s ideal clients would be searching for on Pinterest (i.e., keywords). Keywords are the secret to getting found on Pinterest. Without keywords, your content won’t get categorized properly, and no one will see it…no matter how gorgeous it is!
When you work with me for Pinterest management, you’ll fill out a form that tells me alllll about your business. That way, I can understand your goals, your funnel, and your dream clients. This information helps inform my keyword strategy.
2. Optimize their Profile
Next, I used those keywords to optimize their profile so Pinterest would understand what they do. I added high-volume keywords to both their title and their profile bio. Don’t forget, your profile is searchable too!
3. Create & Optimize New Boards
I created new Pinterest boards that only focused on the content they were blogging about. It’s a common misconception that you need to curate boards for your ideal client. In reality, your boards should be based on broad categories that you’re blogging about consistently.
Ergo, my focus was on boards about wedding planning, wedding invitation etiquette, day-of stationery, and (obviously) wedding invitations.

4. Test Pin Designs and Keywords
Once Heather Paperie’s account was optimized, I began creating pins and pinning! Part of the ✨magic & mystery✨ of Pinterest is that you might not know what works unless you experiment. And that’s totally okay! Some audiences respond well to portfolio images, others love collages, and others love blog post text overlays. I experimented with their designs and keywords to see what their audience was responding well to.
Here are a few example text overlay pins I created to drive traffic to their educational blog posts.

Six Months After Working with Me
Heather Paperie’s results are a true testament to why every wedding stationer should be using Pinterest.
Monthly Pinterest Analytics After
Remember: before working with me, they were only getting 15 clicks to their site, 9 saves, and 7,040 impressions each month.
After six months of working with me, they saw about a 1000% increase in views, a 9000% increase in saves, and a 1800% increase in clicks to their website.
That means each month 285 people were clicking through to their blog. 826 pins inspired people enough to save them for later. And their pins were shown on screen 75,940 times.

Their one suite gained so much attention that Pinterest used it as a featured image for multiple keywords.

Clients from Pinterest
Not only did Heather and Emily’s account grow, but they also made back their investment when they booked several luxury clients! This wasn’t an accident. Couple’s weren’t doomscrolling and happened to come across their work. They were actively typing in keywords like “classic wedding invitations”, “formal wedding invitations”, and “wedding invitations watercolor floral artwork”. Terms I had made sure they showed up for.
The quality of inquiries Heather Paperie received were much better than the ones they received on other platforms. Couples were using words like black tie optional, formal, elegant, country club: all terms that aligned with their dream client.

Key Takeaways
Many creatives get disheartened because they try Pinterest and don’t see results. (Can you relate?) That leads them to believe either Pinterest doesn’t work anymore or their pins aren’t good enough.
As you can see with Heather Paperie’s Pinterest success story, it was never about the pins, but rather the SEO. Their beautiful work was just begging to be seen! It simply took strategy, creativity, and consistency to get their stationery in front of the right eyes.
What Heather & Emily Had to Say about Working with Me:
