If you’ve ever doubted whether Pinterest can actually grow your creative business, this Pinterest success story might change your mind. Heather Paperie, a luxury wedding stationery business, went from sporadic pinning to a consistent, strategic system with Pinterest management. And let me tell you… the difference has been incredible. Increased impressions, steady traffic, and inquiries from their ideal clients transformed Pinterest into one of their most reliable marketing tools. Let me show you how I did it!
About Heather Paperie
Emily and Heather are two incredibly talented stationers who co-own Heather Paperie, a full-service custom wedding stationery design business. They specialize in classic and romantic custom wedding stationery. I have been working as Heather and Emily’s virtual assistant since I first started my business. After I transitioned to offering Pinterest services, they asked me to begin acting as their Pinterest manager, too. Having spent so much time learning about the world of stationery, I was excited to put all of that knowledge into practice creating pins!

Where We Started
Before hiring me as their Pinterest manager, Heather and Emily had only been able to pin a few images sporadically. When there is so much else on your plate as a business owner, Pinterest can often take a back seat to more immediate client work. And while their pins were beautiful, they were not optimized for the platform. Therefore, they were barely getting saves or clicks to their website.

The Strategy
1. Research Keywords
First, I did a deep dive into what Heather Paperie’s ideal clients would be searching for on Pinterest (i.e., keywords). Keywords are key to getting found on Pinterest. Without keywords, your content won’t get categorized properly, and no one will see it…no matter how beautiful it is!
When you work with me for Pinterest management, you’ll fill out a form that tells me all about your business. That way, I can understand your goals, your funnel, and your dream clients.
2. Optimize their Profile
Next, I used those keywords to optimize their profile so Pinterest would understand what they do. I added keywords to both their title and their profile bio.
3. Create & Optimize New Boards
I also created new boards that only focused on their content. It’s a common misconception that you need to curate boards for your ideal client. In reality, your boards should be based on broad categories that you’re blogging about consistently. Therefore, I focused on boards about wedding planning, wedding invitation etiquette, wedding day stationery, and, of course, wedding invitations.
4. Test Pin Designs and Keywords
Once their account was optimized, I began creating pins and pinning! Part of the ~*magic & mystery*~ of Pinterest is that you might not know what works unless you experiment. And that’s totally okay! Some audiences respond well to portfolio images, others love collages, and still others love blog post text overlays. I experimented with their designs and keywords to see what their audience was responding well to.

Example text overlay pins I created to drive traffic to their educational blog posts.
Six Months Later
Monthly Analytics After Six Months of Working With Me
- Impressions: 75.94k
- Saves: 826
- Outbound Clicks: 285
Not only did Heather and Emily’s account grow, but they also made back their investment in the form of TWO luxury clients! Two couples who were searching for custom stationery saw their portfolio images on Pinterest and instantly loved them. They saw around a 1000% increase in views, 9000% increase in saves, and 1800% increase in clicks to their website. More traffic to their website means more eyes on their work, and more couples who want to book with them.
Key Takeaways
Many creatives get disheartened because they try Pinterest and don’t see results, leading them to believe either Pinterest doesn’t work or their pins aren’t good enough. As evidenced with this Pinterest success story, it was never about the pins, but rather the SEO. Heather Paperie’s beautiful work was just begging to be seen! It simply took strategy and creativity to optimize their content and get it in front of the right eyes.
